Everything was fabulous from start to finish. Lovely traditional pub, playing great music 🎶. Room was comfortable with everything you need including plenty of tea, coffee, milk and biscuits. Great selection for breakfast including veggie option. And not forgetting the amazing team, every member polite, helpful and welcoming.

Great pub! Always have a nice time here, and recently had the sausage and mash which was maybe the best ive ever had, was licking the gravy off the plate. Super service as well and the manager with some blue hair is always amazing to us!

We had a very pleasant lunch. As pies seem to be the speciality here, almost everyone opted for one, classic choices like cheese & onion or chicken & mushroom, while I went for the pie of the day: beef stroganoff. All of us were impressed with both the flavour and the generous portion sizes, and everyone left happy. There’s also a great selection of ales to complement the food. Combined with the welcoming atmosphere and friendly staff, this place is definitely worth a visit.

My partner and I visited The Rose and Crown for a Sunday Roast and had a thoroughly great experience. This is a brilliant, traditional pub and we loved every minute of our visit. We both went for the roast—I had the Beef, and my partner enjoyed the Chicken. The food was excellent, with the Yorkshire Pudding being particularly good and impressively sized! Everything was cooked perfectly and was delicious. The service was friendly and attentive, making the whole meal feel relaxed and enjoyable. What really made the visit special was the amazing atmosphere. The building itself is beautiful, and we were lucky enough to be seated in the intimate booth (separeu) just to the left of the entrance. With a lovely fireplace and steamed-up windows, the setting was nothing short of genius—incredibly cozy and intimate. The prices were fair and reasonable for the quality of the food and experience. As a bonus, the Wi-Fi was good! Highly recommended for a classic, cozy pub experience and a top-notch Sunday Roast in York. We will definitely be back!

We booked a table for Sunday lunch. It was recommended to me a while back but I had been a little put off by a few negative reviews specifically relating to the Sunday lunches. We ordered a roast beef Sunday dinner and a beef and Guinness pie. Both were absolutely delicious and the service was great too. Every member of staff we encountered were really friendly and professional. We would come again for sure.
