Beware, tourists: warmth not included... This was the first pub my fiancée and I visited in Ireland after arriving a few days ago, having heard about it on YouTube. We were excited… briefly. When I asked if there was a table for two, the older bartender informed me (with all the enthusiasm that can be found in Ireland...) that there was “no food until 2, just bar.” Fair enough. But the delivery suggested that hospitality was also off the menu. Maybe it was my Canadian accent. That's what it felt like. So I was left to discover on my own that seating was indeed available in the back, which felt like a fun little scavenger hunt. I’ve worked as a chef, so I understand busy services and short answers, but first impressions still matter. A smile is still free, even with inflation. On the positive side: the Guinness was excellent (as expected), and the younger bartender I spoke with later was genuinely friendly and welcoming. Proof that kindness does exist inside the old authentic and beautiful building (in my eyes). Overall, I’m glad I experienced it once, but I won’t be back during my stay in Ireland. I'm sure there's plenty of other pubs that can manage great pints and basic friendliness all at the same time! Who would of thought!!!!!!

A MUST VISIT if you're in the area! Its right next to Glasnevin cemetery, so you can pay your respects to Michael Collins, get mad at the British for centuries of occupation and oppression and, get some exercise by climbing the tower over Daniel O'Connells resting place all before popping in for a great pint of Guinness and a bowl of hearty Irish strew (with wheaten bread). This place can get busy! So if you're looking for a meal, I'd suggest sticking your head through the door to the restaurant, getting your name down for a table, then head next door to grab a pint while you wait - the great staff will come and shout your name out, then you'll head next door to be seated. The food options are varied, some local and traditional, while others are from further afield. Our experience is that all choices will be the right one, so don't stress it. Our latest visit I went with the Irish stew (good amount of beef, cooked until its soft and almost falling apart, complete with potatoes and carrots), my two companions went for the panini sandwich that comes with mac and cheese, and the other, a seafood chowder. All three of us were satisfyingly content after our meals, but enjoyed the vibes so much we stayed for dessert. Two apple pies and a pavlova. All delicious and again complete with custard and/or ice cream. Excluding the drinks (that we bought next door at the bar) the bill came to €60, which we thought was great considering it's Dublin (where prices are notoriously high) and it's a hotspot for locals and tourists alike. A quick mention about the staff. They are all friendly and enthusiastic, however, a special mentiom has to be given to the blonde waitress (whom we have beeb served by before during previous visits), she is probably the happiest member of waiting staff we have every encountered anywhere, ever. She really makes you feel welcomed and helps to give Kavanaghs a homely vibe. By the way, the pints are very good - not sure how you quantify whether its the best, but you definitely will not be disappointed.

This was the best pint of Guinness we had anywhere in Ireland! Kavanagh's was our very first stop after getting off the plane, and honestly, we could’ve stayed there the whole day. It was still pretty early, and I wish we could’ve seen how the place feels once the nightlife kicks in. The place has real history, you can see it and feel it as soon as you walk in. The exact kind of pub you hope to find in Ireland. Our bartender, Mark, gave us that classic Irish razz the moment we walked through the door and immediately made us feel welcome. He even had us sign “The Book,” which was a pretty cool way to start the trip. Great pint, great atmosphere, great start to Ireland.

This is the best pint of Guinness you'll find anywhere. Whatever they do - keg temperature, nitro pressure, beer line temperature and lengths...the end result is the best tasting, full flavored Guiness you can find. By far even better than Storehouse. The staff is so welcoming and friendly, and the food is fantastic. Must visit.

Off the beaten path but very much a wonderful pub. Excellent coddle and one of the best Guinness pours near Dublin. Hopefully this stays as a hidden gem and doesn't become ridden with tourists like The Cobblestone has become over the past few years. Very much looking forward to our next visit at this lovely pub.
